Banomali Das is an artist from India who lives in China. He attended art schools and holds a Bachelor's Degree from the prestigious Kala-Bhavana in Santiniketan (West Bengal, India) and a Master's Degree from the University of Hyderabad (India). He embarked on a new chapter in his artistic journey, moving to China on a scholarship for advanced studies. This cross-cultural experience has provided a unique perspective, allowing him to view his cultural heritage through a fresh lens. Currently, he uses his art as a tool to narrate folk stories with everyone. He noticed that kids today spend a lot of time watching short videos and have a short attention span. His works showcase stories, portraying characters or situations from those folk tales and the moral from the stories. He mixes old Indian art styles with new modern ways of painting, making his pictures super interesting to look at. Banomali hopes his art will make people, including the young generation, curious to learn more about cultures worldwide, remind us of the wise things our ancestors taught through the stories, and continue preserving cultural memory and continuing a storytelling tradition, enlightening, inspiring, and uniting us across generations and cultures.
